The Independent National Electoral Commission,INEC, has said that the services of the military and other security agencies will be used where needed within the confines of the constitution and Military Act to maintain peace during elections.
The Electoral Commission stated that over 700,000 ad hoc staff have been deployed for the general elections of March 28, and April 11.
INEC said there will be at least four officials at each polling unit, comprising of one assistant presiding officer and three assistants.
The commission further stated that a polling unit that has more than 750 registered voters will be shared with other voting points with each having four workers.
INEC however maintained that the military are part of inter agency committee on election security, adding that their role is legal, statutory and constitutional in helping emergency situations.
