Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has asked Nigerians to adapt to the pains caused by the new electricity tariff increase, describing it as a painful pill Nigerians must have to swallow in the interest of the country.
The Minister, who said the tariff would have been there from day one, said the former administration lacked the will power to increase the tariff.
Fashola said the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory commission, NERC, will give a year tariff, which will begin to go down in about two years. He said the tariff is cheaper than diesel, inverter and petrol generation.
He added that Nigeria have to improve certain deliveries. They have to roll out meters, install lines and transformers, among others.
