Debuchy joined the Gunners from Newcastle for £12million after Bacary Sagna linked up with the Premier League champions, and has impressed during his seven appearances under Arsene Wenger.
However, the 29-year-old is now set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines, with French outfit Le Parisien claiming he will be out of action for at least two months.
Speaking after the game, Wenger admitted the situation doesn't look good, but is confident that Chambers can step up after recently impressing as a centre-back.
He told Arsenal.com: "Debuchy has a badly sprained ankle. How long will he be out? I don't know but it doesn't look good.
"People told me they need a bit more time to assess how long he will be out but it's a bad ankle sprain.
"We have Chambers - we bought him for that [defensive cover]. At the start to play centre-back or right-back.
"Debuchy would have been suspended in Dortmund and Chambers was planned to play instead of him, and we have [Hector] Bellerin as well who can play there."
